I was strapped to a Harley Davidson Dyna Wide Glide, moving my entire body to the rhythm of the everlasting winding road simply called “The Road to Hana.” It must’ve been ironic to see a Roseville accident lawyer hoppin’ on his Harley for the ride of a lifetime. In the middle of nowhere.

The road to Hana is a 68-mile long stretch of desolate highway, meandering through the jungle foliage of East Maui, Hawaii. The road is narrow, steep, and requires you to pass over 59 bridges, 46 of which are only one-lane bridges, requiring oncoming traffic to yield. 620 curves are cutting through this lush, tropical rain forest, numerous waterfalls, tree tunnels, and other beautiful roadside attractions along the way testing your ability to remain attentive to the road. There are no stores, no gas stations, no homes, just lush, water-dripping jungle for over three hours, one way.

Several hours later I found myself standing barefoot in black sand at the Wai’anapanapa Black Sand Beach near the small town of Hana. I was amazed at the scenery – a remote, wild, low-cliffed volcanic coastline containing a faint coastal trail, sea caves, and natural stone arches relatively untouched by civilization. A few miles down the road I came to the little town of Hamoa and Hamoa beach. This town has some personal connection as my grandmother was born here. I can only imagine where she lived and played as a young girl.

On the way back to civilization, I stopped at a rare roadside fruit stand to eat a local banana, coconut and drink some water. As if to save the best for last, Mother Nature offered several full rainbows over the ocean as I hastened my way back to the quaint seaside town of Paia before nightfall. It truly was a day I will always remember. A day I will never forget.

Driver in Critical Condition After Driving Off Overpass in Sacramento, California

A vehicle plunged off an overpass onto Interstate 5 in Sacramento’s Natomas area on Monday afternoon, leaving the driver in critical condition. The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene around 12:52 p.m., near the offramp for West El Camino Avenue. The crash occurred while Kyman Jeung was driving northbound on I-5, heading home. He said the incident unfolded in what felt like slow motion, with the vehicle and debris falling onto the freeway just seconds ahead of him. Jeung had little time to react as he quickly maneuvered through the debris, including tree parts scattered across the road. Hours after the crash, locals noticed remnants of debris still on the overpass and in nearby tree branches. Sacramento Police confirmed the driver who fell from the overpass was the only person taken to the hospital. West El Camino Avenue was closed temporarily between Gateway Oaks Drive and Azevedo Drive while emergency crews worked at the scene. The road fully reopened around 3:15 p.m. Thankfully, no other drivers were injured, though Jeung expressed how fortunate he and others were that the vehicle didn’t land on them. Fatal Crash in Carmichael, California After Driver Runs Red Light

A man was killed on Saturday in Carmichael after running a red light and colliding with another vehicle.
