Deadly Multi-Vehicle Collision in Sacramento

Tragedy struck on Saturday evening in Sacramento as a suspected drunk driver triggered a multi-vehicle collision, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries, according to officials. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the crash at 5:37 p.m. along Fulton Avenue near Marconi Avenue.

The sequence of events unfolded when a Dodge pickup truck, traveling southbound on Fulton, was rear-ended by a speeding Toyota SUV, as detailed by CHP. The impact caused the Dodge to veer off the road and crash, while the Toyota continued its path and subsequently collided with a Volkswagen SUV.

Regrettably, the driver of the Dodge pickup, a man in his 50s, succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash, while a passenger in the vehicle was transported to the hospital following complaints of pain, CHP disclosed.

The driver of the Volkswagen SUV, a woman in her 30s, was hospitalized with minor injuries, and her infant, also in the vehicle, was taken to the hospital for precautionary measures.

The driver of the Toyota SUV, believed to be under the influence of alcohol, sustained minor lacerations and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI after being treated at the hospital, according to CHP reports.

An afternoon traffic stop on I-80 in Loomis, Placer County, took a dangerous turn when a California Highway Patrol vehicle was struck by another car. Stockton Man Killed in San Joaquin County Crash on Interstate 5

A 30-year-old man from Stockton died in a tragic crash Sunday evening in San Joaquin County, according to the California Highway Patrol. The accident happened just after 6:00 p.m. on Interstate 5, south of Downing Avenue. Authorities said the SUV the man was driving veered off the east shoulder of the highway, slammed into a metal guardrail, then tumbled down a dirt embankment before becoming fully submerged in a nearby slough. Emergency crews from the Stockton Fire Department responded quickly and managed to pull the vehicle to shore. Sadly, the man was found deceased in the water by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office dive team. At this time, investigators have not determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
