Multiple Injured in Solo Vehicle Crash on Business 80 in Sacramento

Sacramento Fire officials reported several injuries following a solo vehicle crash Saturday night on westbound Business 80 near Marconi Avenue, occurring around 7:30 p.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident involved a vehicle driven by a man in his 30s, which collided with multiple water-filled plastic barriers separating the freeway from the Marconi off-ramp. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn.

All occupants of the vehicle, including four juvenile passengers, were transported to a local hospital with injuries ranging from minor to major, as confirmed by officials.

The driver, suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, was subsequently arrested for DUI.

CHP continues to investigate the crash to determine further details and circumstances surrounding the incident.

Twin Bridges Accident: Man Pinned Between Cars While Installing Chains on Highway 50

A quiet morning on Highway 50 turned dangerous when a driver fixing tire chains was seriously injured by a speeding vehicle near Twin Bridges. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 54-year-old man had pulled his Nissan over to the shoulder on a curve east of Twin Bridges around 10 a.m. His wife and three children remained inside the vehicle as he worked on the left rear tire in the icy conditions. As he crouched near the tire, an 18-year-old driver in a Subaru lost control while traveling between 45 and 55 mph on the slushy road. The Subaru slid into the Nissan, pinning the man between the two vehicles before tossing him into the air. The Nissan was forced up against the guardrail from the impact. At the time, chain controls were in effect, and the posted speed limit in the area was 25 mph. Emergency responders arrived quickly, and the injured man was taken to the hospital with major injuries. His wife and 10-year-old son, who sustained minor injuries, were also transported for medical care. The Subaru had two teenage passengers, and CHP confirmed that all individuals involved remained at the scene until authorities arrived. Despite the severity of the crash, officials stated that the Subaru driver was not arrested or cited. The accident led to the closure of eastbound Highway 50 near Twin Bridges for approximately an hour as crews worked to clear the scene.
