Teen Arrested After Ventura Police Chase Ends in Crash

An 18-year-old girl from Ventura County, identified as Felicity Michaela Hughes, was arrested after leading CHP officers on a multi-county chase. The pursuit began just before 9 p.m. on Saturday, with officers attempting interception at the southbound side of the 101 Freeway. Hughes exited at Johnson Drive, leading officers on a route towards Auto Mall Drive before reaching a dead end.

In an attempt to terminate the pursuit, officers witnessed Hughes make a U-turn and accelerate, crashing into one of the patrol vehicles. One officer sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Hughes was taken into custody without further incident.

She faces felony charges including evading police with willful disregard and assault with a deadly weapon. Hughes is currently held at Todd Road Jail with bail set at $50,000, awaiting her first court appearance scheduled for Tuesday.

For information related to the pursuit and crash, individuals are urged to contact CHP’s Ventura Area office at 805-662-2640.
