Two Killed in Laclede County Semi Truck Crash

On June 8, tragedy struck on Interstate 44 in Laclede County when a collision involving a semi-truck claimed the lives of two individuals, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP).

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. that Saturday evening. A 2015 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by Manuk Gengozyan, 58, of North Hollywood, California, was traveling eastbound on I-44. At the same time, a 2023 Chrysler Pacifica, operated by Allan Borgen, 75, of Redlands, California, was heading westbound.

Reports from MSHP indicate that the Cascadia veered off the left side of the roadway, crossing the median. Tragically, the semi-truck then collided with Borgen's Pacifica, which was traveling in the opposite direction.

Both Allan Borgen and his passenger, Isabelle Busse, 54, were pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. MSHP noted that the truck driver did not sustain any reported injuries. Importantly, all individuals involved in the collision were wearing safety restraints at the time of the incident.

The MSHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision to determine its cause.

Twin Bridges Accident: Man Pinned Between Cars While Installing Chains on Highway 50

A quiet morning on Highway 50 turned dangerous when a driver fixing tire chains was seriously injured by a speeding vehicle near Twin Bridges. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 54-year-old man had pulled his Nissan over to the shoulder on a curve east of Twin Bridges around 10 a.m. His wife and three children remained inside the vehicle as he worked on the left rear tire in the icy conditions. As he crouched near the tire, an 18-year-old driver in a Subaru lost control while traveling between 45 and 55 mph on the slushy road. The Subaru slid into the Nissan, pinning the man between the two vehicles before tossing him into the air. The Nissan was forced up against the guardrail from the impact. At the time, chain controls were in effect, and the posted speed limit in the area was 25 mph. Emergency responders arrived quickly, and the injured man was taken to the hospital with major injuries. His wife and 10-year-old son, who sustained minor injuries, were also transported for medical care. The Subaru had two teenage passengers, and CHP confirmed that all individuals involved remained at the scene until authorities arrived. Despite the severity of the crash, officials stated that the Subaru driver was not arrested or cited. The accident led to the closure of eastbound Highway 50 near Twin Bridges for approximately an hour as crews worked to clear the scene.
