Emergency medical services rushed to the scene at Arden Way and Heritage Lane after the incident was reported around 11:24 p.m. Sadly, despite their efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced dead. The driver involved in the accident remained at the scene, cooperating with authorities. However, the cause of the crash remained unclear.

In response to the accident, Arden Way was shut down between Challenge Way and Point West Way as of 5:32 a.m. The Heritage Lane entrance to the mall was also closed, although the shopping center remained accessible via Challenge Way and Point West Way.

Twin Bridges Accident: Man Pinned Between Cars While Installing Chains on Highway 50

A quiet morning on Highway 50 turned dangerous when a driver fixing tire chains was seriously injured by a speeding vehicle near Twin Bridges. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 54-year-old man had pulled his Nissan over to the shoulder on a curve east of Twin Bridges around 10 a.m. His wife and three children remained inside the vehicle as he worked on the left rear tire in the icy conditions. As he crouched near the tire, an 18-year-old driver in a Subaru lost control while traveling between 45 and 55 mph on the slushy road. The Subaru slid into the Nissan, pinning the man between the two vehicles before tossing him into the air. The Nissan was forced up against the guardrail from the impact. At the time, chain controls were in effect, and the posted speed limit in the area was 25 mph. Emergency responders arrived quickly, and the injured man was taken to the hospital with major injuries. His wife and 10-year-old son, who sustained minor injuries, were also transported for medical care. The Subaru had two teenage passengers, and CHP confirmed that all individuals involved remained at the scene until authorities arrived. Despite the severity of the crash, officials stated that the Subaru driver was not arrested or cited. The accident led to the closure of eastbound Highway 50 near Twin Bridges for approximately an hour as crews worked to clear the scene.
